Riding for Environmental Sustainability

Updated: Jul 24

On June 20, 2024, the Chancellor's lobby at Syed Sirajuddin Building, UiTM Shah Alam, was abuzz with excitement as the Chairman of UiTM's Board of Directors officially launched the 25 Years UiTM Cross-Branches Capsule Cycling Expedition for Environmental Sustainability. The event saw a dedicated team of 12 university members, including the Vice Chancellor of UiTM, embarking on a mission to raise environmental awareness.

Throughout their journey, the team, in collaboration with Yayasan EMKAY and Exotic Animal Teaching Laboratory (ExoTeL), conducted impactful environmental sessions at five campuses. These sessions focused on research collaborations, projects with the Orang Asli community, tourism and hospitality discussions, and heritage site mapping around Belum-Temengor. The expedition concluded at the picturesque Belum Rainforest Resort, where participants were warmly welcomed by the resort management and team. A captivating cultural dance by Seni Warisan Banun Orang Asli SK RPS Banun, in collaboration with Yayasan EMKAY, highlighted the event.

During the stopover, the Vice Chancellor of UiTM had the opportunity to officiate The Banding Trail and participated in a tree-planting ceremony on Pulau Banding. The visit also included discussions at UMK-TRaCe on eco-tourism and research collaborations, including the development of a Digital Library with UiTM. Media coverage at Pulau Banding underscored the event's significance, with Pulau Banding Foundation (PBF) extending heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors for their steadfast support in making this large-scale green project a resounding success.
