EMKAY’s founder, Tan Sri Datuk Hj Mustapha Kamal bin Hj Abu Bakar is the driving force and the man responsible for the company’s success. Through his dedication and commitment, EMKAY has grown into a renowned organization.
EMKAY took on “the first ever large-scale privatized property development scheme” in the state of Selangor Darul Ehsan (Bandar Baru Sg Buloh). The privatization scheme was developed to create a planned township in accordance with the aspirations of the new economic policy as well as create opportunities for Bumiputras (translated literally, means ‘son of the soil’) to participate in the building industry. As a result, not only homes were delivered but communities were created.
EMKAY then branched out and took on more property development projects, locally and also internationally – residential and commercial property management, infrastructure work, building and maintenance of public amenities, golf course developments, as well as supporting the tourism industry with hotels and public attractions.

In 1997, the Malaysian Government invited the EMKAY Group to participate in the development of Cyberjaya and starting with a minority stake in a special purpose vehicle known as Setia Haruman Sdn Bhd. Today, 10 years after the realization of Cyberjaya, Tan Sri Datuk Hj Mustapha Kamal holds majority stake and is now the Chairman of Setia Haruman Sdn Bhd, the Master Developer of Cyberjaya. Setia Haruman Sdn Bhd actively supports the basic infrastructure and amenities needed to ensure a thriving community in this ICT hub of our nation.
Tan Sri Datuk Hj Mustapha Kamal, together with his partner, propelled M K Land Holdings Berhad, an associate company, and through a reverse take-over in 1999, M K Land was listed on the Bursa Malaysia. In April 2007, Tan Sri Datuk Hj Mustapha Kamal relinquished his executive powers to concentrate on building the EMKAY Group.
The EMKAY Group is currently active in residential, commercial, resort and ICT developments. Its major developments include: NeoDamansara in Damansara Perdana; NeoCyber, MKN Embassy TechZone and Bangunan Mustapha Kamal in Cyberjaya; and the Pulau Banding Development Project in Tasik Temengor, Gerik, Perak.
In line with national aspirations, the EMKAY Group’s main focus is not only in building residential and commercial properties, but in building communities, ensuring an economically viable and sustainable development, as well as taking positive steps in the protection and conservation of the environment. |
